To the Combat Airmen of World War II

It was heard in the roar of engines, rising high in the early morning light. It was seen on the resolute faces of courageous young men, dreaming of skies to conquer. It was felt in the cold, brisk air, high above the fields below.

It was the hope of freedom

You, brave airmen, fought for the hope that every turn of a wrench, with every gun you cleaned, and with every sleepless night. you stood for that hope, proud and true, with every day begun before the dawn. Our nation's sword and shield, you defended our way of life and avenged what was stolen that fateful December day.

You, our brave warriors, flew. You fought. You won. You endured wounds of both body and mind. Your skillful hands and sharp minds tenaciously battled for our liberty no matter the obsticle. You remained resolute even while your brothers parished at your side. Yet, we know that the voices of those who gave their lives still linger in the air like contrails of memories. Their strength lives on in you, and their stories have not died.

Patriots, through the years, the hope of freedom has been kept alive by your sacrifices, your words, and the legacy you have preserved. You answered your nation's call and you taught us the importance of doing the same. You arose and stood strong for liberty's cause and callenged us to join you. You stayed true and proud, never wavering in your belief in America's good, and in your support of her calling, and her foundation- freedom.

Today, another generation stands proud and ready to accept the torch of liberty. You have given this generation the wings to soar. You have given us a tradition of honor and a legacy of valor. We stand on your shoulders, knowing you have entrusted us with a precious mission. We will not let you down.

Thank you gentlemen, for your service and your sacrifice. You are America's finest sons and bravest warriors. Your legacy will live on for generations to com, because your legacy is freedom.
